If the books are under copyright in the US, this is probably why they aren't available. Divus are eminently the source of theft of intellectual property, speaking from personal experience.
Older books, pre-1928 (on Jan 1, 2024, pre-1929) do have divu downloads available. Old books are great, better than most modern crap. Works by such writers as Sinclair Lewis, Max Bodenheim, Edna Ferber, Dorothy Parker, D H Lawrence, Aldous Huxley, and F Scott Fitzgerald from the 20's are much better reading material. The Periodicals section has tons of period magazines and journals to read, and outside of a few tech 'advancements', history and culture hasn't changed that much in 100 years.

No, it's not about copyright, as the other files (.pdf and .text) in these releases are still accessible. And I'm not talking about the «Texts to Borrow», but specifically the older books - 18th century, 19th century and early 20th (the 1900s, 1910s). The dates of the original posting of the files themselves can be very distant, for example here https://archive.org/download/philebusplato00platuoft the book was first posted back in 2006 (the .jp2.zip format refers to that time) and there was certainly a djvu file there then, but now it's gone, and the change dates show that some files were reuploaded very recently, in 2022. That said, the deletion process is random, some releases still have the djvu, for example here - https://archive.org/download/philebusofplato00plat .

I don't understand the reasons for deleting djvu specifically, while keeping other formats. Maybe the IA librarians have decided that djvu is an obsolete format? I can assure you that this is not the case at all, they are still widely used by people all over the world. Please, don’t remove them! (And if possible, please put them back in the releases from which they were deleted.)

If you're not in the US or Canada, maybe that's the problem. I can pull up the divu for the first version you give, as well as the second: First one was published in Canada.
