Older books, pre-1928 (on Jan 1, 2024, pre-1929) do have divu downloads available. Old books are great, better than most modern crap. Works by such writers as Sinclair Lewis, Max Bodenheim, Edna Ferber, Dorothy Parker, D H Lawrence, Aldous Huxley, and F Scott Fitzgerald from the 20's are much better reading material. The Periodicals section has tons of period magazines and journals to read, and outside of a few tech 'advancements', history and culture hasn't changed that much in 100 years.

I don't understand the reasons for deleting djvu specifically, while keeping other formats. Maybe the IA librarians have decided that djvu is an obsolete format? I can assure you that this is not the case at all, they are still widely used by people all over the world. Please, don’t remove them! (And if possible, please put them back in the releases from which they were deleted.)
