Are you saying this was when the original gauntlet was thrown down? Well, never let it be said that we don't know how to respond to a challenge. He wanted less Dead talk? Looks like he got his wish, for the torrent of entirely non-Dead garbage that was soon to leave the Forum awash in juvenile innuendo, overtly sexual advances, outright hostility and anti-French sentiment surely was right up his alley.

Yes, up his alley. Be careful what you wish for.

That was exactly my reason for the posting reference. It may be the first public mention of a Grateful Dead collection in the Internet Archive. The date of the actual collections creation is still outside my knowledge.
It may have been started in May 2006 . I hope someone has hard data about it. Reviewing the files and postings suggest that date. It would be interesting to know who worked on the original set-up. I am also interested if any of the early posters remain to this day. And I am also wondering where my car keys are.

Does anyone have any thing firm from the early days?

Hmmm, I noticed that none of "us" responded (well, two yrs before my time, but a few of us were around then, near as I can recollect).

Funny, just like folks told me to tone down the CREAM worship (but, I didn't get a Forum as a result).

;)

Ginger Baker had to travel to Africa to do his best work.

How in the name of all that is good did you pass this one up?

Hey, if I had to reply every time WT expressed his love for old cream, my fingers would lock up.

The GD did not have its own archive or forum. Then in 2005 when the GD decided they no longer wanted free access to their music, and at one point all the GD shows were pulled, the LMA forum exploded. Eventually they compromised and we have the current format of streaming soundboards and downloading audience recordings. When they set that up, they moved the GD to their own site and decided it was probably in everyone's best interest to also have its own forum and so here we are. I haven't been to the LMA forum in a while but it seemed to become less about music and more about technical issues regarding uploading music etc.

Yeah, i just checked it out and i think there was only one music related post on that board. It also moves really slow. The current board dates back to the Feb 11. 2 months to clear the board? Posts clear fall off the bottom of this board in 2 hours on a good day.

Hey, don't sell yourself short on your own expertise when it comes to nuts.

(after a week away I've got some catching up to do)

Nuts!

(co-opting the famed WWII retort from Bastogne, though here, for "My Forum, or my life"; which actually makes a bit of sense, eh?).
