Re: Dead link: SFLan Map |
Agreed -- the SFLAN project (free wifi in SF) appears to have fizzled... Is that true? Or am I out of touch?
A decade ago, I set up the node sflan50 on my Castro district rooftop, with one of the antennae beamed straight down Market St., with line-of-sight to the Ferry Building. But the infrastructure that made this possible went away... has it come back? Shall I resurrect the node?
If you know anything, please get in touch!

Re: Dead link: SFLan Map |
Setting up a node like SFLAN50 on your rooftop in the Castro district a decade ago was a commendable and forward-thinking initiative. It demonstrated your commitment to fostering connectivity and community engagement. The idea of providing wireless internet access to residents and businesses in the area, with a line-of-sight connection to the iconic Ferry Building, showcased your dedication to bridging digital divides and contributing to the local tech ecosystem. If you're considering resurrecting the node, your willingness to continue supporting connectivity and technology in your community is undoubtedly a positive and impactful endeavor.
