"America's Educator," Ron Clark is the 2000 Disney American Teacher of the Year, a two-time New York Times Bestselling author, the subject of a television movie and the founder of the Ron Clark Academy.
PLOT: A small-town teacher relocates to one of the toughest classrooms in the country._IMDb
STORYLINE: 1998. Ron Clark, still relatively early in his career, leaves his stable life teaching at an elementary school in his suburban North Carolina hometown, the school where he is appreciated by both his fellow teachers and his students for his innovative teaching methods which results in raising test scores. Instead, he decides to look for a teaching job at a tough New York inner city school where he feels he can be more useful.
He eventually finds a job at Inner Harlem Elementary School, where the students are segregated according to their potential. As Clark is white and "nice" looking, Principal Turner wants to assign him to the honors class, especially as Turner's job security depends on good test scores. Clark, however, wants to take the most disadvantaged class.
He quickly learns that it will be a battle of wills between himself and his disruptive students to see who can outlast the other. But he also learns that he has to understand them, both individually and collectively, on their level to be able to get through to them before he can teach them the standardized materials. But even the best laid plans can be turned askew by unforeseen events, such as illness and the behavior of others outside of his control. And he has to overcome the self-fulfilling prophecy of failure to instill a sense of worth within the students. Through it all, he is supported by Marissa Vega, the beautiful waitress at the restaurant where he works part-time.—IMDb by Huggo
IMDb User Reviews:
Loved every second of it. (Dec. 18, 2020 by rezwanhasan): This movie is a reminder of if you want something from your heart and give your heart to it, You can certainly achieve it. Mr. Ron really wanted to see his students go places from his heart!
A true story that reminds us to keep on dreaming (Aug 13, 2006 by harlemworld): I love Mathew Perry and i think he does a great job as chandler in friends, problem is he gets type cast most of the time as that character. and so it was nice to see him play a more serious role. you see to really appreciate this movie you have to understand where it comes from, i lived in Harlem. i grew up and went to one of those schools. in fact, that class was GOOD compared to mines. we used to throw desks out the balcony and through cubes at the teachers. and that game they played "bet how long before the teacher quites" we played that! we grew up not knowing about chances, scholarships, opportunities all ofthat was unchartered territory for us we didn't know what it was, until one man came along,
He was a history teacher names Mr. Peterson, funny thing, he looked and acted a lot like the teacher in this movie. and to make a long story short, he helped us to "learn, to love to learn" when you walked in that class room you could here a pin drop. i love history now, i love this movie now because it's real, these things happen, and i hope this movie inspires more people to want to become good teachers. watch the movie.

The following statement is
written from my heart ... these

Thank

* Although it's
quite true that all
uploaded material found at archive.org is free for you to watch or
download,
the space
needed to store it, is not. As
you can well imagine, IA grows in leaps and bounds each and every
day, the daily cost to keep this wonderful address we so much enjoy,
running at proper capacity, is tremendous.
This fact is the one and ONLY reason
a yearly fundraiser is necessary .... to raise extra dollars to keep
this free-for-viewing/downloading and available
for today's
generations as
well as for all future generations!
Each
of we worldwide family of members & users of

non-profit organization,
because with as little as $1

donation, you say? Yes, maybe
so .. but stop and think of the huge difference that
donation can make, if
every single one of we

just
say: ''I can do that, and I
WILL do that!'' Please consider making that very important
donation. Sincerely, I thank you.
