spreading all across the area. don't be surprised either if you hear a rumble of thunder tonig tonight. feel strong gusty winds. good evening, i'm dawn timmeney. lucy is off tonight. i'm iain page. the weather authority chief meteorologist scott williams is tracking all this for us. what's on your radar tonight, scott. >> right now, of course, dawn and iain, we're track to go night's system. that rain has begun to move toward the philadelphia area south jersey as well as delawa delaware. but most of the action still off to the west even reports of severe weather and funnel clouds through sections of charleston, west virginia, moving into northern sections of kentucky. now anticipating tornadic activity but we could see some gusty thunderstorms out of this system. so the bottom line right now the thunderstorm activity moving in from the west and as we move into the overnight scattered showers and storms. some gusty winds. we could see winds gusting over 30 miles per hour. how much rainfall? about half an inch of or more on average and then as we move toward tomorrow morning, there could be a leftover shower clearing but

evening. chaos at this pathmark on cottman avenue in northeast philadelphia after a man was stabbed in the face and the neck by another man in the produce aisle. >> blood on the floor and all, so -- it was scary. i've been in pathmark over 32 years. first time i ever seen someone -- something like this happen. >> it's scary. it really is. because you think you going into a safe place, you're going shopping for food, you don't expect violence. >> reporter: police say at least 100 shoppers were in the store when the suspect attacked the victim. police believe they know each other hadn't some kind of dispute. >> there was a verbal altercation. it turned into a physical altercation and then our 40 year old perpetrator pulled out a knife and stabbed the 50 year old victim. >> reporter: police rushed in to get people out of the store but they were surprised by the persistence of some shoppers. >> many customers in the store that were shopping standing on the blood pushing their shopping carts over the blood and we had to tell them that's human blood. they had to get out of the store

as soon as possible. >> some people actually asked the police if they could reach on the shelf and grab some dairy product that is where most of the blood was we had that area cordoned off. >> reporter: workers tell us it's site they'll never forget as they continued work through the madness. >> it was nerve racking to ring out customers. >> reporter: nerve racking indeed. police tell us they arrested the suspect about a mile away walking down railroad tracks. they also say the weapon were you kitchen knife they recovered that weapon. the suspect is facing aggravated assault charges also weapons offenses and police tell us that the victim is expected to survive his injuries. dawn? >> all right. dave, thanks so much. happening now a fire air tanker crashes in california. firefighters say the plane was flying over a wildfire near yosemite national park. officials say this type of plane is flown by single pilot there's no other crew on board. it's unclear right now what happened to the pilot, of course, we'll keep an eye on this developing story throughout

newscast. back here at home a firefighter is injured battling flames. sky fox over the scene over chesterfield, jacobs town road in north hanover. initial reports said the fire was caused by an explosion in the garage. the firefighter was taken to robert wood johnson hospital with minor injuries. fortunately no one was else hurt. >> developing now, a heated meeting with some worried parents local officials in new jersey where little boy died of enterovirus d68. there are now more confirmed cases of the enterovirus in the state, ton night parents are questioning hamilton township's response to a case of enterovirus d68 that killed a pre-schooler. fox 29's sabina kuriakose live tonight. the meeting got a little inten intense. >> reporter: parents were asking tough questions of council members. five new cases confirmed today by the new jersey department of health in the state of enterovirus did thenterrevere d.

they a lot of questions for council. >> council members grilled over what they knew and when after a yardville elementary school pre-schooler he lie waller fell sick and died from what was later confirmed to be enterovirus d68. >> four year old's should not die in this country, and if they do, it's supposed to be looked into and it's supposed to be -- have the best attention. >> message that we've all tried both myself, our administration, our staff this is a community partnership that eli's death will probably never know where that virus came from. but it's a partnership for parents, for educators, for business owners, for all of our citizens to understand personal hygiene is the way you prevent this. >> reporter: township and health officials vigorously defending their response saying they acted swiftly as they could to clean and sanitize the school and inform parents so council members admitting they learned of eli's dental in different

video, please call bristol police. iain? >> all right, chris, thank you. here's a look at the man philadelphia police charge in the sexual assault of a woman inside her chinatown art studio. 29 year old brandon menially facing several charges including attempted murder, sexual assault and robbery. investigators say they found menially in a homeless shelter and took him into custody. the attack happened sunday morning. cops say menially not only assaulted the 45 year old woman, he also took off with $600. >> and time now for a look at your fox 29 weather authority forecast we're talking rain and winds tonight as we just saw with chris o'connell and dave kinchen, scott. that's right. you probably are better off with a poncho instead of an umbrella. we're looking at temperatures right now 64 degrees. humidity 87%. winds right now south southwest 15. but take a look at the rainfall causing puddles outside of our studios at fourth and mark. so slick road conditions if you're headed into third shift. right now, as we take a look at

ultimate doppler around philadelphia some moderate to heavy rainfall moving into salem as well as millville. glassboro looking at some of the moderate rain. but you can see we're not done with the rainfall. this is really the first batch moving through right now. off to the west, lancaster county moving into baltimore as well as washington, d.c. even nasty line of thunderstorm activity so not out of the question to hear a rumble of thunder as this system moves through. so on our radar right now, we're watching the system. but take a look at some of the damage reports out into sections of west virginia as well as kentucky. reports of funnel clouds, a lot of wind damage. not really anticipating that as it arrives overhead. but right now we have the thunderstorms moving through as we progress throughout the overnight. winds are go going to be gusty at times up to 30, maybe 40 miles per hour. a half an inch of rainfall on average. but the good news, it's going to be out of here in time for that wednesday morning commute. so quick clearing temperatures bottom around 60 degrees.

you can see right now we're watching pocks of rainfall. some of the heavier activity you can see by midnight north and west where you see the yellows as well as the orange. but look at 4:00 a.m. when you're watching sue. move of the rainfall will be moving out by good day 7:00 o'clock. out to sea. windy conditions turning sunny and clearing. so tonight's rainfall totals on average a quarter of an inch to perhaps a half an inch. higher totals in the lehigh valley and the pocono mountains. lesser amounts once you move down the immediate shore. and what about that total lunar eclipse? tomorrow morning it starts about two hours before sunrise around 5:00 a.m. you can watch it right here on good day. and as we talk about the position of it look to the west. clouds could impact the viewing but once again that system will be moving out and this happens as the moon passes through the earth's shadow. also, a quick note. the tropic as we move toward the pacific take look at this massive typhoon. it's a category five storm.
