starting to come down heavy there right now. >> both pennsylvania and new jersey have declared states of emergency. dozens of schools are closed up and down the east coast. thousands of flights have been cancelled or delayed. our team is spread out across the region. rob is starting off. >> here we go again, nor'easter will track closer to the coastline, already brought blizzard conditions to the midwest and now the coastal low is kicking off, you can see on the radar, the precip is beginning to intensify. we got winter storm warnings that are posted from maryland to maine with a slew of weather conditions expected. let's go live to linzie janis in new rochelle in new york. >> reporter: dangle and twisted power lines and tree limbs, the

home owners here will tell you they're lucky. take a look at why. this massive tree, while it did hit their car it narrowly avoided hitting their house. they're worried about this second nor'easter in less than a week. this morning, with temperatures falling fast, snow is piling up in the northeast. the powder mixing with sleet, creating a dangerous mourning commute for millions. the storm is strengthening as it heads up the i-95 area. coastal areas like this sea wall are already seeing giant waves, now the area is preparing to get slammed with 40 to 60 mile per hour winds as well as 10 to 15-foot waves. nearly one week after that nor'easter, thousands are still struggling to live without basic resources. more than 100,000 still remain in the dark. >> it's freezing in my house.

it's 45 in there. >> reporter: viewers gave us a glims of what it's been like without power and hot water. >> as you can see, we have no lights and no running hot water. >> this is now our home and the office. which is the holiday inn. >> i had to throw out all my food, it's very disheartening. >> reporter: residents are praying that scenes like this will not be repeated today. utility crews are busy at work on surrounding streets. they won't stop working until the winds hit 30 miles per hour. at that point it's too dangerous for them to remain up in the buckets. right now, the temperature is still above freezing, so the snow is not sticking to the ground. >> linsey, thank you. let's take a live look at the roads in pennsylvania right now. abc's gio benitez is there in allentown.

they're preparing to battle with the snow. good morning. >> reporter: that's right, george, good morning. that heavy snow just beginning to e fall here. take a look at this. because is this is all about that salt. the trucks will come in here, grab the salt and start putting it on those roads. in pennsylvania, they have turned garbage trucks into snowplows, they're trying to get ready for that morning commute, get ready and make it a lot easier for people. interstates and highways have already started limit traffic later today and we'll have a commercial travel ban in place for parts of pennsylvania, george. >> okay, i know my kids were excited when they got the word last night no school here up and down the east coast. >> that's right, new jersey, delaware, pennsylvania, we're talking about 550 schools that have already cancelled classes. philly, that school district alone has 130,000 students that won't be going to school today. >> thank you, gio.

let's move up to massachusetts, where they're still recovering from last week's damaging storm. eva, you're bracing for high winds and even more coastal flooding. >> reporter: that's right, michael. it's round three for this area, which has been hit hard by these nor'easters. look at this, this flooding is still here from the last storm we're in duxbury, the nor'easter is set to slam these already-battered seawalls. you can see those angry waves crashing in, that's the major problem here, where the seawall has been breached. a temporary fix but necessary with this incoming storm. contractors, town workers, regular citizens, all pitching in to get this done. they did their best. now, they'll have to wait and see. guys, this water you see right

here will be sitting here for a while. the earlier it will be pumped up this weekend. i spoken to some of the home ownerers. i was here for that first nor'easter. they say they still have water in their basements. on their streets there's no power for some of their neighbors. they're really hoping that with this storm, mother nature cuts them a little bit of a break. michael. >> all right, thank you. as you can imagine, thousands of flights have been cancelled or delayed because of the storms. ripple effects being felt all across the country. kayna whitworth is here at lga in new york. >> reporter: it's slow going out here at laguardia as they brace for their second nor'easter here in a week. now, we don't want a repeat of

what happened last week, when the winds blew off the roof of that american airlines hangar. that day they were seeing wind gusts of about 60 miles per hour. today, they're expecting gusts about 40 miles per hour. but, it has just now started snowing out here in queens. they have already cancelled more than 400 flights here at laguardia and other airports around new york are being hard hit as well. our big board here behind us, a whole lot of red. nearly 2,000 flights have been cancelled nationwide. that's nearly ten times more cancellations than we saw yesterday. that's likely to have a ripple effect. we'll probably see a lot more cancellations and/or delays throughout the day today. a little good news here, most major airlines say they'll waive all of those change fees.

that's something that people can go home with today. >> thank you. let's go back to rob, where is this storm heading next. >> it's going to be moving right across the coastline. we saw the impact areas, just getting around town is going to be an issue as well. here's i-80 in pennsylvania. kind of wet to slushy on the road. you do see the snow piling up on the sides of the road as we begin to intensify this snowfall and increase the snowfall rates we'll start to see the snow accumulates on the roads. here we go, the next few hours, the snows will be intensifying from baltimore, up through philadelphia and we'll look for the wind to intensify as well. this low will strengthen and this morning, the track has shifted somewhat a little bit farther to the south. that's the key to who gets rain, the snow, and that mix. the most intense snowfall,

nastiest weather will be from 10:00 a.m. to dinner time. in the higher hills could see 2 feet of snow. very high-impact event. still in march. >> a good day to go home and take a nap, if you can. to the white house right now and another major departure, gary cohn is resigning, the sixth top official this year. our senior white house correspondent cecilia vega has the latest. this announcement is already rattling financial markets. >> reporter: it certainly is. as you say, more turnover in this white house than any other administration in recent year. president trump says he likes the conflict. he likes to watch two sides fight it out. in this case, gary cohn fought it out, lost and now he's out. this morning, another top aide

in the trump administration out, chief economic adviser gary cohn resigning, the circle of west wing loyalists shrinking by the day. the news came just hours after president trump declared his white house chaos-free. >> i read, oh, gee, maybe people don't want to work for trump. believe me, everybody wants to work in the white house. they want a piece of that oval office the west wing. >> reporter: the president insists there is no turmoil. >> i like conflict. i like having two people with two different point of views. then i make a decision. >> reporter: in a statement, president trump called cohn a rare talent. cohn returning the niceties, saying it has been an honor to serve my country and enact pro-growth policies to benefit the american people, in particular the passage of historic tax reform.

behind the scenes, the two men clashed. he opposed the president's plan to slap tariffs on alum number and steel imports. he nearly resigned last year. >> i think there's blame on both sides. very bad people in that group. but you had people that were very fine people on both sides. >> reporter: cohn is the sixth high profile white house aide to resign this year and the president hinted there are more departures to come. >> there will be people that change. they always change. >> reporter: now the president refused to answer when directly asked if his attorney general jeff sessions might be the next to go. gary cohn will stay on the job for another few weeks. this is job that many people want. >> he says he'll make a wise

choice and the markets watching that as well, cecilia. >> they are. especially all eyes here at home to see how wall street plays today. cohn was viewed as a stabilizing force. names that are being kicked out to replace cohn, peter navarro, a democrat and larry kudlow, a conservative commentator and trump can campaign adviser. >> meantime, cecilia, the primary elections in texas a surge in democratic turnout, any response from the white house. >> so far, no. we might hear something that president trump, all the candidates in republican primaries he picked won their primaries to avoid a runoff. >> we have heard from the president about this the possible breakthrough in the standoff with north korea. the north is prepared to negotiate with the u.s.

and martha raddatz is in the studio with us with the latest. >> reporter: this is breakthrough. the north koreans say they'll suspend those nuclear tests, they'll suspend those missile tests if they begin talks. and what the u.s. had said, donald trump, you have to talk about denuclearization, north korea has said. here's what donald trump said. >> the statements coming out of north korea and south korea have been very positive. that would be a great thing for the world. we'll see how it all comes about. >> reporter: and we have no idea when that will happen. but it looks like it might happen. they'll start talking about it. >> does the president deserve some credit here. >> some may call it the mad man theory, kim jong-un didn't know what donald trump would do.

move on now to some new legal trouble for president trump stormy daniels is now filing a lawsuit against the president. arguing the nondisclosure agreement she signed before the 2016 election is not invalid. tom llamas has the story. >> reporter: with this lawsuit, the nondisclosure agreement has now been made public, using aliases it lays out the agreement between stormy daniels and donald trump. now daniels said it's null and void. which means, she's free to tell her story. this morning, president trump and his personal legal team have a new problem with an old foe. stormy daniels. the adult entertainment star field this civil lawsuit in los angeles superior court, arguing a nondisclosure agreement she signed was not binding because it was missing something essential. president trump's signature. daniels claims in their

agreement, they used ali is ases. donald trump was referred as david dennyson and she was peggy peterson. a copy of the agreement shows a plank space where she says mr. trump would have signed. >> do you have a nondisclosure agreement? >> do i? >> you can't say whether or not you have one. if you didn't have a nondisclosure agreement you could say i don't have a nondisclosure agreement, yes? >> you're so smart, jimmy. >> reporter: she told her story back in 2011 to intouch magazine. she met the preside. >> booger: donald trump in 2006. told the magazine, then a reality star, invited her to his hotel suite where they had sex.

in the magazine interview, daniels also claiming her affair with trump lasted about a year. when trump was a newlywed. >> he had been married to melania a little over a year. barron was born three months prior to that. >> reporter: the so-called agreement was finalized 11 days before the election. and the president's longtime personal attorney michael cohen admitted to paying $130,000 of his own money to daniels who's real name is stephanie clifford. but cohen said in a statement, neither the trump organization nor the trump campaign was a party to the transaction with mrs. clifford. neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly. lawyers are mixed on whether daniels has a case.

clean up from the last nor'easter, check out the water that's still here. this neighborhood flooded. this patch of dirt was under water just a short time ago. this fire hydrant almost covered by this water that's here and further down the street you can see that mark that's on the basement of that home there, that shows how high this water was at some point. and this is all here as they get ready for this new nor'easter that's heading their way. from this droin video, you can see the waves crashing on the coast. this this shoreline has been batted by storms this season and now they're getting ready and seawalls here nduxbury, the seawall was breached. they can keep as much of this water out. to minimize the damage, so people have a chance to get in

magic back to her people. the city are named after nigerian cities. you know, riding giant lions through the jungle. it's this epic adventure. we have, like lord of the rings and harry potter and stories we love, usually in the same setting. this time we'll get to see, like the aim adventures that we love but in completely different settings and new characters. i'm excited. it's fun having something in your head for so long and having the world view it. the first time someone said my character's name out loud, i was like, where did you find out? with my first book, rightfully shouldn't have come out. i didn't get to publishers. i couldn't get an agent with

that one. but a lot of really great people said yes to this one and now we're on "good morning america," which is crazy. >> you got a lot of good people around you. your mother, your father, your brother's here. she signed a seven-figure deal for the book and also already -- it's going to be made into a franchise of movies. your brother believed in you >> he did. >> what was about your sister that you knew? >> she never lost that magic that i think that we're all born with but as we get older we tend to lose that imagination, that things we can think, anything's possible. anything can happen. but the world is so real and it gets to us we start to lose it. she never lost it, she always had it. i'm so proud of her for bringing it to the world. >> and mom and dad, you're just

beaming with pride. you read the book a dozen times? >> 16 times. i confess, 16 times. >> mom, what are your emotions? >> just so excited for my baby. it's been a long journey. went through some struggles with everything going on in the world. she said i'm going to do something about it. i'm going to write a book that's going to change the world and i'm so excited for what she's about to embark on. >> so, is it everything that you thought this moment would be? >> all of it has been beyond my wildest imagination -- times where i was like, okay, if you worry really hard like in ten years something like this could happen. after five years, maybe a movie. i never thought it would be like this. the book came out yesterday, on twitter this morning, people are like, how could you? you read 540 pages on a school

pretty clear right now. now, let's turn to matt pelman for a look at the rest of the traffic. hi, matt. >> about 10 minutes ago we were starting to see glimpse of its wrath. tree 091 of those heavy bands of snow came roaring through. a it was almost a whiteout for a little bit. snow is really coming down and as you can see it did coat the roadway. 309 here by english village. you can get by. you can see the lane but there's definitely a lot of slush and snow on them by now which is going to change because all morning long we've seen mainly wet conditions and that's still the case here on 95 although we're not sure how long it's going to be the case in northeast philadelphia. snow still coming down. traffic on 95 is moving okay. here on the schuylkill expressway seeing our first accident on 76 of the morning. it's the westbound side by gulf mills. sticking out into the right lane there but at least the lanes are passible at this point. a vehicle ran off the road in salem county off the southbound side of the turnpike so you have to take it easy because it is definitely slippery in spots, matt.
