meteorologist, david murphy. >> ♪ >> good morning. >> ♪ october 28th and we're following some breaking news. >> overnight takedown. investigators raid a suspected dog fighting ring and are pulling dogs out of the house right now. we are live. >> looking for answers. a bucks county community comes together over hazing allegations involving a high school football team. >> and the search for a suspected cop killer in the poconos takes to the skies. >> let's go right over to david and karen now, get a look at your weather and traffic. good morning. >> good morning, everybody. and we are off to a decent start out there with temperatures hovering on or about 50. more on that in a moment. there had been some clouds that parked themselves over the region overnight but most of these are high and thin enough where we expect some sunshine to break through. temperatures right now little better than yesterday. 51 degrees in philadelphia, 44 in allentown right now. 48 in reading. 49 in wilmington and 60 down along the boardwalks. not a lot of wind out there.

but cool enough certainly for a jacket early. what little wind we do have is starting to come out of the southwest ahead of a cold front out to our west and that's good because that southerly flow tends to warm things up which is exactly what's going to happen later this afternoon. temperatures for the bus stop and to start the car this morning still kind of cool hovering around 50 degrees between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock but then it's off to the races. 55 degrees by 9 o'clock. accuweather says by noon we're at 66 and then 74 at 3 o'clock with this high of 75 right there around 4 o'clock today. still holding close to 70 degrees by 6 o'clock tonight. another mild one tomorrow with maybe a shower karen. details coming up. >> all right dave. roads are clear and dry, light traffic volume out there and some of our construction clearing. the ramp from aramingo avenue to i-95 southbound reopened because that construction cleared. starting at 6 o'clock this morning the ramp from i-95 northbound to bridge street is going do close until 3 o'clock in the afternoon. you'll have to stick to the cottman off-ramp instead. and in new castle county here, the ramp from i-95 southbound

to 202 have reopened. they were closed overnight for construction but that's wrapped up and now you're looking pretty good. and the burlington bristol bridge reopened too. that maintenance there has cleared. we're live in new jersey, that's 42 northbound traffic if you're coming from turnersville or blackwood, no delay just yet. it's early and looking good, tam. >> thank you, karen. and we start with breaking news this morning. the pennsylvania spca is raiding a home in south philadelphia right now. authorities say they're taking down an elaborate dog fighting operation. katherine scott was first on the scene and katherine, you've got some brand new video. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam and police say they found blood throughout the home, evidence of dog fighting and they believe this operation could date back quite some time. you can see that authorities remain on the scene right now. philadelphia police and the p spca here on the 2200 block of mifflin street in south philadelphia. let's go to that new video. exact count from authorities but we're hearing there are roughly 15 adult dogs in the house and more than a half

dozen puppies in the south philadelphia home. they started taking out the puppies first. police were called for suspicious activity in the house and the p spca arrived around midnight. they found quite a bit of training equipment inside and paraphernalia authorities believe was used in this case. they say there were treadmills for the dogs, syringes authorities say were likely used to give the dogs steroids. we don't know the conditions of the dogs right now but again, authorities do believe this was used in a a dog fighting ring. so far no arrests in this case but at this point authorities are folk can cussing on getting the dogs out of this home. pspca, philadelphia police remain on the scene and of course we are here as well. we were first on the scene and bring you updates as we get them. live in south philadelphia, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> thank you katherine. a community meeting scheduled today to talk about a hazing investigation that shut down a football program at central bucks west high school. erin o'hearn is live in the satellite center with more. >> this will be a very public school board meeting after news broke last week that the

district canceled its -- the remainder of its varsity and junior varsity football seasons in the wake of this hazing scandal. this meeting follows a meeting that took place last night just for the parents of football players. apparently monday night's meeting was in an effort to inform parents of the agenda for tonight's meeting. and of course this all stems from that hazing investigation that concluded some freshmen members of the team were forced to perform humiliating acts. in a letter to parents the district says one student was forced to grab a player's private parts while fully clothed. head coach brian hentzel and coaches were suspended. i'm erin o'hearn live in the satellite center. back to you. >> erin thank you for that. it is now 5:04. happening today, a preliminary hearing is scheduled for the man accused of opening fire

inside a delaware county wellness center. richard plots faces murder in and related charges in the july shooting that killed theresa hunt. she was his caseworker in darby. psychiatrist lee silverman was also wound in there that shooting. plots is being heldly in a delaware county prison. crime investigators taking their search for eric frein to the area. the ohio state department of transportation is lending a mylar balloon equipped with cameras and sensors. officials think that the falling leaves will give them a much better view of the terrain using that balloon and helicopters. >> mayor michael nutter blasting city council for rejecting the proposed sale of the philadelphia gas works. council killed a $1.86 billion deal without even holding a public hearing. the mayor says the deal would have frozen rates for low income families for the next three years and would have guaranteed current jobs and mentions during that same time. >> i think what we heard and what we saw today is quite

probably the biggest copout we've seen in recent legislative history in philadelphia. >> we clearly did not have the support for this. i can't say that anybody supports this proposal as submitted so that's the mayor's responsibility. >> the union for pgw workers says council did the right thing. big fight between mayor and city council. >> yeah. >> well, there will be no fights about how much you're enjoying today when you get outside and say oh, i think i need to go back to shorts. >> especially this afternoon it's going to be nice, tam. we have no precipitation out there this morning and as we take a look outside, not a lot of wind, either, so the camera not shaking around as we take a look at center city and it's another one of those cool starts. it is late october after all but we are really going to transition into a nice afternoon. 51 degrees right now in philadelphia. 49 degrees in wilmington. just 44 to start out in allentown. but everybody is headed to the 70's this afternoon. in fact i'll go ahead and bring in that always on day planner so that you can sort

of ambulance ahead if you like. now, there is more cloud cover out there this morning. you'll notice that as you go outside but you'll also see some stars breaking through in all likelihood in a lot of neighborhoods and generally speaking these clouds look high and thin enough to allow some sun in. allentown looking good up in the lehigh valley this afternoon. 74 for a high, a mix of sun and clouds and a warm conditions up in the lehigh valley. down the shore, not a bad afternoon for a stroll on the boardwalk. we're going up to about 70 in atlantic city. some spots along the beach might even hit 72. again a mix of sun and clouds and obviously on the mild side. and in philadelphia we'll go for a high of 75, a mix of sun and clouds, warm, winds out of the southwest at seven to 14 miles per hour. as we roll through the day, it is still cool at 8 o'clock but by 11:00 we're up to 62. that's certainly mild enough to throw on a light jacket and take a stroll but then we spend the afternoon in the 70's. by 2 o'clock 72. 5 o'clock 73. and our 75-degree high probably around 3:30 or 4 o'clock this afternoon. got a rocket launch from wallops island virginia down to our south and west. this is at 6:22 tonight.

now, you might have heard that this was going to go off last night and it was but somebody had a boat in the area too close to the secure zone and they probably wanted to get a good look at it and they ended scrubbing the launch because of that. this is usually visible about two to three minutes after the launch going up into the sky. take a look at the southern horizon tonight. hopefully there won't be too many clouds for that. on wednesday we've got a cold front coming through but ahead of it we'll get up to a high of 71 early in the afternoon. there might be a brief shower around tomorrow but generally speaking it looks like another mild mostly dry day. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 75, very warm today, a mix of sun and clouds, should be kind of nice. then clouds and sun tomorrow with a high of 71. just a slight chance of a spotty shower. dry most of the day. and then behind that front it's sunny but cooler on thursday, probably a little bit windy, too, and 61 degrees the high. for halloween clouds and sun, 58 and we're now removing that chance of an evening shower.

looks like it's going to be cool but dry for trick or treating. windy on saturday. a high of just 48. a spotty shower is possible and in the northern and western suburbs we might even see the season's first wet snowflake at some point on saturday. don't get too excited. it's just a little bitty thing and daylight savings time ends on saturday night. we fall back an extra hour of sleep on saturday night for matt and you, too. >> all right. it is now 5:09 and isis releases new video showing a british hostage and the images could contain clues about the brutal killers. >> a freak accident at a gymnastic center out west leaves a girl seriously injured and lying on the sidewalk. karen. >> we still have construction blocking the right lane on 202 northbound past paoli pike in west chester. otherwise you're good to go. we'll take you to the northeast extension and the new jersey turnpike when we come back. >> later in the morning buzz sixers offer a sneak peek at debuting on opening night

>> ♪ >> 5:12. taking a live look at the scene at a parking lot just outside philadelphia international airport. get ready for the 70's later today. it's going to be warm. >> i know. you'll have that sunroof opened for a change, karen. how's it looking out there. >> looking good so far. it's early yet. time to check your suburban traffic report. let's go outside live and show you what's going on. roads are clear and dry. this is delaware county i-95 near the commodore barry bridge. we had some slow moving construction but they're clearing the area. we can see them far up ahead right here. so looking pretty good and no delays out there on i-95.

let's check the northeast extension. we have some construction northbound between lansdale and quakertown blocking the right lane. the southbound construction is cleared so just those northbound crews still out there at this point. in upper merion this road collapse from late last week still causing problems. dehaven street closed near balligomingo road. use 320 or matsonford road. expect this to be closed through the end of the week. in new jersey, on the turnpike southbound from approaching exit six to approaching exit 5 we've got construction in two lanes and also construction on the turnpike connector eastbound past 130 so the crews are still out there this morning. as we look at our commuter traffic report right now, and which we can get on the waze app we're traveling up 55 through glassboro, through pitman, up through deptford onto 42. if you're heading up and over the ben franklin or walt whitman bridge you're seeing no problems along that commute. looking pretty good. how about the temperatures? making it up into the 70's this afternoon, more than 10 degrees above average but for now on the cool side, 44

in quakertown, 51 in saint david's. about 48 in the city. now yesterday in parts of south jersey we were in the 30's. now we're at 55 in buena, 47 hammonton. not quite as cool to start karen. >> isis has released video of a british hospital in the outskirts the town of kaboni. captured journalist john cantily seems to be standing on a roof near silos that are about half a mile from the city limits. independent satellite video an appears to confirm the location. isis is that close to the city location. airstrikes at a cost of about a half billion dollars. a 10-year-old girl recovering after she went flying off of a trampoline and through a glass window at a gymnastic center in california kyla graham needed more than a hundred stitch. it happened while attending a halloween party. the trampolines are now closed off. >> the flyers host the stanley

moved in on satellite as well. notice how you're seeing some patches of dark in through here and that's the thinning of the clouds that will be thin enough to allow some sunshine to poke through those holes as we go through the day. starting out with temperatures on or about 50 in the immediate region, 49 in wilmington, 47 in trenton, 51 in philadelphia. up in allentown just 44 degrees. 55 in millville and even 60s up and down the coastline. winds not all that strong but notice how they are coming out of the mild southwest. that's ahead of a cold front out to the west and that's drawing in some milder air for this afternoon. as you head out the door to catch that school bus or get the car started, it looks like it's still going to be cool on or about 50 between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. but things to do warm up in a hurry as we head to school and to work, well, lunch on a park bench, maybe you got a little recess outside today. by noon, 66 degrees. by 3 o'clock, 74 degrees and your high today is actually going to be 75 degrees and that will hit at about 3:30 or 4:00 this afternoon before we dip back into the upper 60'
