>> good afternoon. sarah bloomquist is off today. in the news, a delivery man finds a body on the side of the road. the investigation into the woman's death. and rumors about a pope francis visit to philadelphia. we tell you what the vatican is saying officially. the big story on "action news" this noon, a suspicious fire that sent three people scrambling for safety. two adults and a child were saved from the burning home in the 1700 block of sigel street this morning. police are looking into whether someone intentionally started the blaze. annie mccormick live at the scene with more on the man who rescued the victims. >> three people do remain in the hospital. like you said, police believe this could be a case of arson. saying thanks to two officers who happened to be nearby they saved the lives of the three people inside. one of the police officers no stranger to the headlines. after 6:00 a.m. the intense flames took over the south philadelphia row home in the

1700 block of sigel street in south philadelphia. fire crews worked to vent the roof, and by 7:00 a.m. they got the blaze under control. the initial call reported two adults, a male and female and a e scen jumpedti> liet jonathan kicked in the door, alerted them to the fire and they made thes escape from the rear of the property. >> up heard it right, the hero in thisser to, lieutenant jonathan josey the philadelphia cop once accused of hitting a woman in the face at the puerto rican day parade. the video went viral. the police commissioner fired him but a judge later acquitted him of the charges and he was reinstated to the force. today he just didn't save lives, they believe it may be a case of arson. there are reports that someone was seen throwing something into the home, and josey took someone into custody. >> and one was obtained by

from yesterday. david? >> rick, the aftershock is clear will linger here with this hospital community for a long time. the wellness center behind me here remains closed as a clean-up crew erases the physical evidence of the bloodshed but the emotional healing will take time. >> there is just shock that someone could get inside of our building with a gun. >> denise johnson works as a lab technician in the wellness center. she left the building yesterday just before the gunfire erupted. it happened in the psychiatric unit on the third floor of this building. 49 year old richard plotts had an appointment. and they heard the argument and r. nd ahendting the g d and they say plotts shots silverman killing her and then shot at his head.

injured. and breaking news from the tioga section where an accident investigation underway following an accident involving a car and pedestrians. we are told that several people were hurt. the call came in after 11:30 this morning, intersection of germantown avenue and west allegeny. again the city's tioga section. and chopper 6 over the scene showing you some of the wreckage. we are told that a child was one of the injured a female child transported to st. christopher hospital. and a 40-year-old woman and 50-year-old man and another woman were injured and have been transported to nearby hospitals. what exactly took place is still yet to be determined. three adults and one child injured in a serious crash in the city's tioga section at germantown avenue and west allegeny. no word on if the car, if it stopped or if there were any arrests. but again the situation continuing to unfold. and police are on the scene investigating. we, of course, will continue to follow the story for you and bring you more information as

and allegeny avenues. the police are on the scene looking for a suspect. the police tell us the carjacking occurred at the point of a gun. the suspectses while fleeing a scene hit a crowd of people, and as mentioned as many as five people, including a child, were hit and transported to local hospitals. again, no arrests at this time but police are conducting a search for the suspect who apparently carjacked a car and struck several people while trying to make a getaway. we will follow the story for you and bring you much more information when it becomes available. until then, a quick break.

>> meteorologist david murphy back with a closer look at the weekend. the humid seems low, but ramping it up. >> especially by sunday. showing we are dry across the region. man, is it a nice one. looking outside, the action cam out earlier. the blue sky, occasionally fair-weather cumulus mixed in. generally speaking the order of the day was bright and pretty comfortable this time of year. the temperature in philadelphia 78 degrees, the dewpoint down there at 55. below that 60-degree threshold for humid airs. winds, a gentle breeze adding to the comfort building breeze. many 78 in philadelphia and millville. allentown 76 and reading. and 73 in wildwood, and the airport in atlantic city inland 79 degrees. if you have plans to travel i-95 or the pennsylvania turnpike it is definitely a day for shades.

cloud cover in ohio, but not us. occasional cloud cover, pretty stuff, no rain today. nice in allentown, 82 and humidity on the low side today. down the shore pretty nice day, looking at ocean temperatures in the low 70s in most spots. and pretty pleasant with low humidity and high on the beach 82 around atlantic city to the cape may peninsula, maybe up to 78 or so. either way pretty nice. on the way home from work or he did had -- heading out later on, pretty nice. and settling about 80 degrees or down to upper 70s by 7:00 in philadelphia. 84 the forecast high today in the city. lots of sun and pleasant with the light wind we talked about. and then overnight tonight, all the way down to 67 degrees, mainly clear and comfortable talking about how nice it will be at the phillies. the same at ppl park.

and mainly clear and comfortable for the match, 78 at the start, and 90th minute, 74 degrees. the poconos, saturday 79 and chance of a late-day thunderstorm. sunday is when the humidity really kicks in. a high of 76 and even better chance of what thunderstorm sunday afternoon or evening in the poconos. down the shore, looking at the ocean temperatures in the 70s in all likelihood. 84 the high on saturday, sun giving way to clouds. probably dry, maybe something popping late at night at the shore. and sunday 84, with an afternoon thunderstorm that will feel a little more humid on sunday. there could be a strong storm mixed in sunday. and checking the seven-day forecast today's high 84, sunny and nice. through the weekend in the city, sun giving way to clouds saturday, 88. if we see an afternoon thunderstorm on saturday, the best chance is often the northern and western suburbs. we'll probably have to wait until saturday night before those march towards philadelphia
