courtroom with the mom and dad today he was acting as his own lawyer and questioned them about the death of their 10-month-old daughter and grandmother. and "action news" reporter dann cuellar is following the big story live tonight, dann. >> sure line, in the american jushl system alleged kill rerz allowed to represent himself. it fit the same for emotional first day of trial. first parents of dead man testified -- the dead baby testifying about the last day they saw their child and grandmother alive and then being cross examined by their alleged killer. >> it was difficult. they're being cross-examined by the person that murdered their mother and daughter. >> 28-year-old randumari who tell jurors he's a escapegoat is accused of killing a woman and her granddaughter two years ago. vincana lost his mother and daughter that day.

he discovered his mother on the floor and the frantic search for his daughter. he left behind a ran some note demanding $50,000. police videotaped the confession where he said he killed the grandmother and wrapped -- and wrapping her in a suitcase. today both the baby's parents refused to look at the guy as he cross-examined them sitting ten feet away and canavina said he ended his testimony saying no one should experience this it should not happen to anyone. his wife called out god bless my baby before collapsing in tears. there's an olds axiom among lawyers a man who represents himself has a fool for a client but standby court-appointed attorney says he has seen lawyers doing work worse. >> he has to know when to make objections and that sort of thing. i think he's done fine for pro se person who is not a citizen of the united states.

out of the truck. then shooting him when he turned to go get it. the victim survived a gun shot to the hip. grubeer was fired from his job last week and faces 20 years in prison if convicted. >> the police chief whose officer killed an unarmed neem furgeson, missouri, has a new message for michael brown's family. >> i want to say that is the brown family. no one who has not experienced the loss of a child can understand what you are feeling. i'm truly sorry for the loss of your son. >> chief tom jackson issued that apology in a video released by a public relations agency today. he went on to apologize for the teen aimer's body lying in the street for four hours before being removed. the furgeson police department has come under intense criticism for the investigation of the shooting and the handling of protesters angered by brown's death last month. brown's family has yet to issued

bang and abdomen. he was taken to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania in critical condition. police say the suspected shooter took off running from the scene. philadelphia police are looking for a man that used unusual weapon to hold up center city dunkin' donuts. this is surveillance from 8th and chestnut sunday morning. investigators say the suspect pretended he would order and instead went around the counter and pulled out a hypodermic needle. the female worker his stated to open the cash register and the man grabbed her arm and threatened to stab her with the syringe. the pus suspect managed to get the register open himself and nobody was hurt here. >> this pair is on tv tonight because police in egg harbor township say they walked off with a pair of televisions. investigators say the suspects stole two platt screen tvs from shoprite on september 17 and seen loading loot into this car here. if you know anything about this crime please call the number on your screen, 609-926-4051.

city towards ventnor and margate all aglow and no fog an issue right now at the shore but there could be patchy fog developing overnight. as we look at the accuweather live lineup we look at double scan and temperatures are cooling off especially north and west and satellite and radar showing everything moving north and east. right now double scan live will show we have a clean radar sweep. different from just a few hours ago when we had lingering showers around. warrington we're down to 57. st. david's 56, 56 slatington and coatsville 56. oxford 58 and state of new jersey and delaware temperatures there kind of dependent on location. hammonton 59. boardwalk 62. overall there's a difference of about 3 to 4 degrees by location. satellite and radar our coastal low bringing train southern new england. it's pulling away. notice behind we are clearing out the clouds, especially north and west and even shore now

we're starting to clear the sky as well. with a clear sky and those winds calming down and wet ground those three ingredients are recipe for patchy fog to develop but even if you see some tomorrow morning don't worry this high will take control as sun quickly returns, 77 with lighter winds. and high moves to the east, spectacular start to the weekend saturday, 82 degrees. which is well above normal for this time of year. little feeling of summer is coming back. as we go to the lehigh valley to round out the week on friday, mostly sunny, warm, 77 and if you're heading to the shore tomorrow, much better than today, we don't have whipping wind and ocean is not like a washing machine. 73 degrees. partly sunny skies. and if you head to dover, big nascar weekend at the monster mile there qualifying rounds tomorrow 76. and on saturday and sunday, it is smooth sailing weather-wise, 80 on saturday and on sunday more sunshine at 81.

snv jessie matthews is heading back to virginia to face charges of disappeared uva student hannah graham. matthews was arrested at a beach in galveston, texas yesterday. they think he was the last person to see the 18-year-old alive. graham was last seen september 13. a homeless woman beaten by a california highway patrol officer accepted 1.5 million settlement. the video of that beating went viral in july. marlene pinock was walking barefoot when tackled to the ground and punched repeatedly in the head. a man driving buy captured it open his smart phonech the officer resigned and could face criminal charges. >> tonight, we are hearing from the parents of 1-year-old vick anymore so-called slender man case. the wisconsin girl was brutally stabbed by two friends living
