medical workers in containment suits brought them to the hospital. the group was returning from a trip to dubai and had no connection to west africa. this all comes days after mercer county man became the center of an ebola scare at new york's jfk airport. the "new york daily news" said the man returned from kenya saturday when screeners discovered there was a warrant for his arrest. he start complaining of fever. he and the officers around him were putç into hazmat suits. kenya is in east africa, not west africa. that's where the ebola outbreak is concentrated. earlier today, president obama met with top advisers in the oval office. they discussed the nation's response to the ebola outbreak, including a nurse who was just diagnosed in dallas. meanwhile, a family friend tells nbc 10 the nurse is nina pham, a

26-year-old. she's in stable condition. someone who had close contact with her is also in isolation. area hospitals are preparing for the possibility of an ebola patient walking in through their doors. main line health system hospitals have been working on plans for four months and they say they're ready. lu ann cahn is live at lankenau hospital. >> they gave us a mock demonstration and allowed me to put on protective gear to show me how involved it is. >> it is our intent to use these rooms for any potential ebola patients that come in. >> reporter: dr. ben yuage wears two hats. >> we choose the hall with minimal patient exposure. >> reporter: which means he's helping to train a hospital staff and ems crews to identify

potential ebola patients and then make sure they protect themselves and others during transport and treatment. >> this is the first layer of protection. your second layer is a face shield. >> reporter: a special cart with protective gear is stocked and ready to go at all times. >> the key to the safety of the staff and to the patients that they'll be treating xwenly is all in the methodical detail. >> reporter: every layer that goes on must come off in a particular order in a particular way. i stepped into a moon suit with a filtered respirator system. this is what doctors and nurses would wear to perform a procedure on an ebola patient. experts are questioning if a nurse contracted ebola in texas due to a misstep in getting all of this kind of gear off. >> you can see where you could do something wrong so easily. >> absolutely. and our hope is that adopting the buddy system and having a partner for every person that wears the equipment, we'll try

to avoid problems like. >> reporter: having a sec person there, a partner is being done to make sure mistakes aren't made. in this case, if you're dealing with an ebola patient, obviously if you make a mistake, there could be dire circumstances. live at lankenau medical center, lu ann cahn, nbc 10 news. today pennsylvania governor tom corbett told nbc 10 it would be difficult to stop people infected with the ebola virus from entering the state. he says pennsylvania can't check people coming into the commonwealth. >> we don't have monitoring to stop people from coming into pennsylvania. that's the federal government. the federal government -- i mean from international flights. they have to make a decision as to what to do. >> how about the hospitals. >> we're in the process of finding out. >> he told keith jones he plans to meet with the secretary of health tomorrow on how prepared

hospitals are if the virus were to make its way here. visit nbc10.com for an entire section devoted to the ebola outbreak. we'll explain how investigators determined the individual risk of people who come into contact with ebola patients. now, taking a live look outside, the fog and the rain are making it difficult to see the philadelphia skyline. trust us, it's there. let's go to nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen. sheena, how long is that fog going to last? >> renee, it's going to continue to move into tonight, spread across the area and it will be here for the morning commute. we'll have fogç around. keep that in mine. here's a look across the river in camden. you can't see the tops of the buildings because of how low the clouds are. some areas are seeing thicker cloud cover at the surface, creating less visibility thanned if right now. we'll continue to see that early tomorrow.

as far as the radar is concerned, most of us are dry but light showers continue to linger along the shore in cape may and atlantic counties. a majority of this has cleared out of the area. still rain around. to our west, moving from the southeast all the way up to parts of chicago, this is a big cold front. it will be here by the middle of the week. a lot of strong storms with this. as we go into wednesday night, that's when we mostly expect thunderstorms. the follow is continuing to settle through parts of the lehigh valley, seeing visibility around two miles coming up, i'll show you how low our visibility will be into the morning hours. that's straight ahead. >> thank you. union reps take a tentative agreement has been reached between septa and the engineers who run trains on its regional rail lines. after five years of negotiations, the two sides reached a deal that includes a five-year contract covering workers retroactively and moving forward through july of 2015. union reps say the terms include a 13% pay raise.

members still have to vote on this deal. septa has not confirmed it. countdown to election day, 22 days before voters head to the polls. in new jersey, all 12 congressional seats are up for grabs. tomorrow is the last day to register to vote. you can do so at your county clerk's office up until tomorrow night. one hot race, congressman rob andrews vacated the seat after two decades. state senator donald norcross and former eagle gary cobb, are vying to replace him. nbc 10 south jersey bureau reporter cydney long is with us tonight. >> reporter: first and foremost, on themeaned of south jersey voters are the availability of jobs. we're talking about good-paying jobs and benefits along with health care and being able to pay for their chuildren college. we found out today that senator

norcross and gary cobb are not so far apart on these points. >> i'm not a politician. i don't want to be a politician. >> reporter: still, gary cobb says he can't wait to get electioned to congress to make a deference for south jersey's middle class. >> we have to straighten out the economy. health care is another problem. look at isis. look at the foreign policy. >> reporter: where do you think you differ from your opponent on the job crisis? >> well, i have a history of creating economic opportunity here in south jersey. >> reporter: senator donald norcross says his work with new jersey's equal opportunity act stands on his its own merit. cobb says the creation of jobs has to be teaming with colleges to attract science and technology to the region. >> a lot of colleges that don't pay taxes, they're just going up on the tuition, it's out of control. >> reporter: where the two agree? the affordable health care act. >> let's keep it but fix it. >> the person should be able to get the doctor they want.

they should be able to keep the medical care they want. >> reporter: both agree reform will prevail on new jersey's ballot by referendum and lessen the burden on taxpayers to get people into the work force. >> you have somebody who was a nonviolent drug offender, i want them back into the work force. >> it's costing the state $60,000 to have a man or woman out, having a job where they're contributing, taking care of their families, their community. that's a win in anybody's book. >> reporter: now, both norcross and cobb will speak to the very same issues this week at a meet the candidates luncheon at the gloucester county chamber of commerce. that's at lunch time. there is a panel discussion between the two candidates coming up on october 31st, just four days before election tuesday. live in cherry hill, cydney long, nbc 10 news.ç hard to make out here but princeton professor cornell west was among the 19 protesters here arrested in ferguson, missouri

today. demonstrators called for acts of civil disobedience in the name of michael brown. he's the unaveraged teen killed in a police shooting sparking national protest. west was part of a group that marched to a police station and demanded to be let in. the protesters say they want to ask for meetings with the police chief. nbc news was there for the protest and you'll find in-depth coverage less than 30 minutes from now on "nbc nightly news" with brian williams. it starts right after this news cast. fire investigators in bucks county say a fire at a dance studio was intentionally set. there's also a home inside the building. no one was inside but a firefighter suffered a minor injury at the scene. new jersey lawmakers are taking several new steps to protect animals from cruelty. one bill would allow judges to ban animal abusers from interacting with animals. another billed would expand animal cruelty laws to include

the dean of philadelphia sports casters was remembered today. a funeral for bill campbell was held today at christ the king church in haddonfield, camden county. he was behind the mike when wilt chamberlain scored 100 points in a game. he also broadcast the eagles 1960 championship. bill campbell died last week at age 91. sears is on the defense after selling a piece of jewelry

that's a true symbol of hate. here's the listings. swastika rings selling for as much as $155. it's on sears website but the company says it wasn't the one selling the jewelry. nbc 10's delaware bureau reporter tim furlong got the explanation. >> reporter: jennifer steinberg shops at sears. when she saw the sideways swastika ring advertised -- >> i expect more from them. who thinks swastika and doesn't think knneo-nazi? >> reporter: sears has an online marketplace where you can buy things on their site from third party vendors. that being said, i think most people would probably feel like anything you buy through the sears site you're essentially buying from sears. sears sent me 'statement, tell me the item was listed by independent third parties on sears marketplace and violates

looking for three women they believe are involved in the theft of a man's prosthetic leg. sonny forest jr. got his leg back after it was found on a subway train. he says he took the prosthetic leg off while singing for fans after the eagles game at the licn. the singer tells nbc 10 as he was sitting on a scooter, a young woman in eagles gear grabbed the leg and took off with two other women. he believes the woman was probably drunk. she's a philly kid who gave new meaning to the term "throw leak a girl." now mo'ne davis is getting another national honor. "time" magazine named her one of the 25 most influential teens of 2014. davis became a household name during the taney dragons run in the little league world series. she's one of only two 13-year-olds to make "time's"
