as well as to school. with that possibility of the strike still on the table, people are thinking about a backup plan should buses, trains and trolleys stop but riders are hoping it doesn't come to this. they are keeping their fingers credits that had negotiations between septa and union don't break down. two sides pledged to continue to negotiate terms of the new contract. members of the transit workers union local 234 have been without a contract since march, the union is septa's largest representing 5,000 bus drivers, subway and trolley operators and maintenance workers. they say main sticking points are benefit increases and pay raises. on sunday members authorized leadership to strike if they think it necessary and union leadership says a decision on whether to strike could come by weeks end. passengers say a strike would be a huge inconvenience. >> a lot, i catch four buses in the morning. >> i was teaching years ago

and it was very hard to get around. >> reporter: now a lot of people remember what the last strike was like and they are in the looking forward to yet another, septa a officials say they continue to offer reasonable wage, pension and health care benefits, meanwhile union leadership says two sides are very farrah part. if a strike were to happen it would affect trains, trolleys and buses. it were not impact regional rail and leadership says it will give the public 24 hours notice. reporting live from upper darby jane carabao cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new this morning a man tries to drive himself to the hospital after a shooting in north philadelphia police say someone with an assault rifle shot him at west tioga streets. police found the driver passed out after his suv hit a fire hydrant on the 3300 block of old york road. we're told he is in stable condition with the gunshot wound to the right thigh. a chase that took philadelphia police from mayfair to torresdale end in a crash and the a alleged driver

in jail. chase started last night at torresdale and ditman streets. police say they were investigating the man in connection with the abduction and assault on a woman that happened on monday but when officers approached his car police say he back up in to one of them and then took off. >> the operator of the vehicle backed up striking one of the officers and then pulled forward and drug one of the officers several feet. at this time the partner fired his weapon, one time, striking the rear of the toyota camry in the rear windshield. >> police ended up tasering the man after he crash at frankford and convent. the officer who was struck by a car was in the hurt. right now 5:33. lets check with katie. we have been seeing fog all over our cameras this morning. >> we have, it is settling in because win has slack end up a a little bit but we have just enough moisture left in the wake the have the front that brought in the wet weather yesterday. you can still see it making its retreat here.

it is just close enough we have moisture left over. now any fog that is still out there should dissipate with the light of the day but you have got to look closely. it is tough because sun isn't up just yet but you can still surrounding street lamps outside whitefield elementary school that there is a haze and a fog that is settling in here and where you've got that fog it is definitely coming in, thick and locally dense. so if you just watch for that here it should only be through the next few hours at most that we have to deal with this and it should brighten up for bright sunshine. much cooler out there right now, 47 in the airport. we are easily in the 40's. we have caught up new to the temperatures that we're seeing in the just in columbus, ohio and st. louis but down to birmingham, that is how far the sent of the first batch of cool air, has come through, but you can tell where it hasn't crossed through, charleston my goodness still flirting with 07 degrees down that way. just a matter of have time before that spot starts to see a drop on the thermometer. we have seen it already.

nationwide found 80 percent say americans returning from west have africa should be quarantined upon arrival. don champion for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a terminally ill woman who made headlines after had sharing her decision to end her own life has released an emotional new video. >> twenty-nine year-old brittany maynard has been diagnosis with an aggressive form of brain cancer last spring. doctors gave her six months to live. in june, maynard and her family moved to oregon so she could get access to the death with dignity act. she initially chose this saturday, november 1st as her death date but now says it is not the right time. >> i still have enough to wake and laugh and smile with my family and friend enough that it doesn't seem like the right time right now but it will come because i feel myself getting sicker, it is happening each week. >> last week maynard visited the grand canyon a trip she described as the last item on
